Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary: A Haven for One-Horned Rhinoceros

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most famous wildlife sanctuaries in Assam, known for its population of the endangered Indian one-horned rhinoceros. Established in 1976, this sanctuary covers an area of 83 square kilometers and is situated in the Golaghat district. The sanctuary is part of the greater Kaziranga-Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary complex, which also includes the neighboring Kaziranga National Park. Pobitora offers a unique opportunity to see rhinos in their natural habitat, along with other wildlife such as wild elephants, gaurs, sambar deer, and numerous bird species.
